In my recent wanderings around the internet, I came across a site that listed private islands for sale. Knowing that I’ll be in the trillion dollar club any day now, I decided to check out which one I should buy.
OK, I won’t be in the trillion dollar club any day soon. But I do enjoy looking at things such as this as they provide me with inspiration and motivation to continue to save, invest and limit my spending. So without further ado, here are some islands you can own! (All I ask for is a free week once a year for informing you of them.)
OK, I admit that this one is probably out of most of your price range. But it’s fun to dream, right?
This is a 16 acre island with a main house, guest house and caretaker’s quarters. There is electricity on the island from the mainland as well as a generator and storage tank on the island.
This island is 2.5 acres and comes with a concrete house (furnished, 2 bedrooms), and a small care taker’s house. There is a generator on the island along with a septic tank and a water system. Satellite phone service is also offered.
This island is more in many people’s price range. I would venture that most would buy as a retirement home and live much more cheaply than here in the US.
If the Caribbean isn’t for you, then there is Namaste Island in Michigan. This is a 7.5 wooded island that is only 900 feet from shore. That means it’s easy to get to and has electric from the local power company. There is a completely renovated cabin on the island and wild blueberries grow in the summer!
This isn’t the price for the entire island, but I figured I would throw this one in there. The price is for a lot on this island. So if you don’t want to get completely away from others, you can buy a lot on this island that is being developed as a resort. I’ve never been to Fiji, but judging by the pictures, I’m about to start saving!
